Spotlight on Dr. Chelsea Cole ND - Juniper Family Health

My practice is all about finding ease. Whether it is with food and eating, hormonal shifts and menstrual cycles, or mental wellbeing. I am passionate about helping people experience better periods at all life stages, improved digestion & relationship to food, and improved mental health.

Working with hormonal concerns has always been a practice focus, but over time I learned how connected hormones, digestion, and mental health really are. As a result, working through these areas is often how people flow through my practice. I commonly support people with: premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, preconception planning, perimenopause, menopause, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic stress/burnout, anxiety, and depression, among other concerns.

In addition, as I worked with more and more people, I noticed that so many of us try to “balance hormones” or get rid of gut symptoms through food restriction alone, and this often leads to food fear and stress about eating. Sometimes the food restriction happens well before we even know what is going on with hormones or digestion. I am dedicated to helping people experience more food freedom, and use an evidence based and anti-diet culture approach in my treatment plans. I want you to have more good weeks in the month, and feel supported without taking away all of the foods that you love.

When you book with me, the first step is often further investigation. If you have menstrual cycle concerns, we will talk about cycle tracking. If you have hormonal, digestive, or energy & mood concerns, we are going to start with some lab work. We need this information to discuss the evidence based treatments available, and to develop a care plan. In addition, we will discuss foundational elements of wellbeing, like: nutrition, stress management, sleep hygiene, and movement.

In addition to consultations, I offer other services including pap testing and intravenous iron. Completing pap tests is a big part of my practice, and while cervical cancer screening has changed in BC from pap testing to a self screening test for HPV, some people will still require pap tests. I am pleased to continue to offer this service to those who need it. IV iron is a new service that I’m excited to offer. Iron deficiency is the most common nutrient deficiency that I see in my practice, and IV iron is a great option for correcting this deficiency. With that said, it isn’t suitable for everyone, so an appointment is required to see if this is right for you.
